ANV ambassador Louise Hughes publishes blog on reading her care files

Louise Hughes, an ambassador of Coram Voice’s A National Voice programme (ANV), has published a blog about her experience of reading her care files. In the blog, published on the Local Government News website, Louise highlights the “double-edged sword” of reading her files which has both brought up some difficult emotions but is also helping her to process her childhood experiences.

Louise, who was also selected as a finalist in the 2018 edition of the Voices creative writing competition, is calling for care leavers to be offered more support if they decide to read their file and for social workers and leaving care personal advisors to be better equipped to guide young people through this challenging process.
