Ty’s experience of being an ambassador

Ty, a A National Voice Ambassador, shares why he got involved

Tell us about yourself

My name is Ty. I live just up the road from London in a nice town. I have two sisters, an older, a younger and I also have a niece. My passions in life are literature, mainly poetry which I enjoy performing, and football. I support Luton Town FC and Manchester United. I have my Level 1 in football coaching and I coach football regularly.

What are you proud of?

I’m really proud of my writing and also my friends. They fill me with such joy. One day I would love to create spoken word pieces with music, while being in dramas and writing books.

What are up to at the moment?

At the moment I am currently unemployed (yawn!) and am looking for work. I want to study teaching to become a full time primary school teacher with my own class. I am currently involved with Coram on the A National Voice (ANV) programme because I want to have a positive impact on the care system.

What difference do you hope to make for children and young people as an ANV Ambassador?

I was moved into care at 15, and then when I reached 18 I moved into semi-independent living. Eventually I then moved into completely independent living with a one-bedroom flat. I hope to make it easier for care leavers and children in care while also giving them the opportunity to grow and see the value in themselves.
