Ofsted is looking at changing the way it inspects children’s social care in England. This includes how Ofsted inspects local authority children’s services, as well as services such as children’s homes and fostering agencies. Ofsted wants its inspections to focus more closely on the things that matter most to children, young people and families.
As part of the consultation, Ofsted wants to hear from children and young people about some of the changes it is considering. This includes:
- how important relationships and connections are considered during inspections
- how inspectors can check that adults and services are working well together
- how inspectors can better hear directly from children and young people
- proposed changes to the way services are rated
- how inspection findings should be shared and reported

A National Voice has worked with Ofsted to turn the consultation questions into a menu of interactive and engaging participation activities that can be used with children in care and care leavers. The pack is aimed primarily at participation workers, CiCC leads and others who work with and support children in care and care leavers.
