How A National Voice works
We provide opportunities for Children in Care Councils, care leaver forums, and participation groups working with care experienced children and young people across England to take part in national activity. This includes opportunities to share views, influence decision makers, and contribute to national campaigns, projects and consultations.
Our role is to bring groups together, facilitate engagement, and create clear routes for care experienced voices to be heard at a national level.
We do this by:
- Creating opportunities for groups to come together through national events to connect, share learning and influence national work
- Running polls and surveys that groups can choose to take part in, to share what matters most to care experienced children and young people
- Facilitating involvement in national campaigns, with groups able to take action locally if they wish
- Offering opportunities to contribute to consultations on national policy and practice, including government reviews
- Promoting and celebrating youth led participation work from across England
A National Voice Ambassadors
Our A National Voice Ambassador programme brings together care experienced young people aged 16 to 25 from across England. Ambassadors work as a national group, representing the voices of care experienced young people and helping shape national projects, campaigns and resources based on what young people say matters most.
Our main focus currently is Amplified by Care Experience, a National Lottery funded project that aims to identify, support and grow strong youth led work across England. Ambassadors play a central role in shaping this project, supporting youth led ideas, and helping influence change at a national level.
Alongside this work, ambassadors also take part in wider consultation activity, including surveys, polls and discussions, helping organisations and decision makers better understand the experiences and priorities of care experienced young people.
A National Voice Ambassadors currently:
- Meet regularly as a national group
- Shape and support the delivery of Amplified by Care Experience
- Take part in consultations, surveys and polls on key issues
- Support national events and engagement with participation groups
- Share their views with decision makers to influence change for children in care and care leavers
