Non-instructed Advocacy for Children and Young People

An opportunity to explore the challenges of implementing a robust, ethical, and skilful approach to non-instructed advocacy.

This two-part course takes place over 3 & 10 December, 10:00-12:00.

At Coram Voice we know how essential it is that vulnerable young people who cannot instruct an advocate, still have access to this vital support to ensure their rights are upheld, and that they are kept at the centre of any decisions being made about their lives.

These workshops will provide an opportunity to explore the challenges of implementing a robust, ethical, and skilful approach to non-instructed advocacy. This will include discussions on the different NIA approaches and practical examples of non-instructed advocacy case studies and reports. The workshops are suitable for advocates with or without experience of NIA.  The case studies will focus on issues based  advocacy for looked after children, care leavers and children in need. However, they may also be useful for advocates working in other settings (such as IMHAs) who wish to explore the broader principles of NIA.
