Why?
The ANV AMPLIFY awards aim to champion and recognise the work of children in care councils and care leaver forums. They were held in October 2022 (Amplify – Coram Voice) – Wakefield children in care council were nominated for the ‘Participation award’
What?
Wakefield children in care council (CiCC) is made up of different groups and ages (age 2 up to 32 last year). The CiCC created a video showcasing the work they have been doing over the last year, including:
• Creative projects (e.g. singing)
• Training professionals (including health, education & other public services
• Influencing council policy (e.g. local offer for care leavers)
• Organising fun activities.

Impact
Wakefield CiCC works to make sure young people are acknowledged as experts.
‘Participation and voices’ is now mandatory training for all newly qualified social workers and children/ families staff. The CICC priorities are now the Council
priorities – they are adopted in the Wakefield CYP plan 2022-2025.
