Independent Visitors

“It’s been wonderful. The young person was reluctant to go in to crowds or in to town and always wanted to go to the cinema and to the same place for food. The IV encouraged her to come to a Christmas concert with her in December and it was a great success.

The young person even went to the Christmas markets and loved it. A is still speaking about it and she will remember it for the rest of her life. It has helped her grow in confidence and be more willing to try new things.

Coram Voice provides volunteer Independent visitors (IVs) for children and young people across England.

Many looked after children would like to have an adult in their lives who is not paid to be there like their social worker or foster carer and that’s where an IV can help. They provide a good, stable, adult role model for the young person, visiting the young person monthly befriending and listening to the young person sharing interests and hobbies.
