Why?

The ANV AMPLIFY awards aim to champion and recognise the work of children in care councils and care leaver forums. They were held in October 2022 (Amplify – Coram Voice) – Derbyshire children in care council were nominated for the ‘Participation award’.

What?

The children in care council in Derbyshire have created a short film for prospective foster carers – the group worked together to agree the key skills they would like to see in new carers – loving, sense of humour, creativity and aspirational – were some of the top things that would help people become totally awesome carers.

The work was praised in the ANV awards with young people judges saying:

“This is a really well put together video, it is fun & eye-catching.”

“We really love the spy theme!”

“Young people clearly helped influence this. Thank you so much for sharing this great work.”

Impact

The film has contact details for the fostering service and encourages anyone who is interested in finding out more about becoming a foster carer to get in contact.
